Réquiem
A scholarship to a conservatory in the Swiss Alps offers a young Colombian composer the promise of recovering his childhood love. Yet the pianist he remembers chooses not to recognise him.
Behind the story
Why I made it
Intimacy becomes fragile when every achievement is publicly measured, and I place Román's hope of finding someone within that pressure. His musical education unfolds alongside a relationship shaped by training, reputation and social standing. Donna Tartt and M. L. Rio inform the atmosphere, while JittiRain guides an intimacy that takes time to emerge.
The world
At Silvatici, musical mastery is inseparable from the visibility of rank. I place the conservatory in a castle in the Swiss Alps, where pianos, formal clothing and public ranking screens make competition tangible. Drawing on fiction about elite academic institutions, I let rooms, instruments and dress reveal social differences before the students name them.
The characters
Every character enters the story with a life already underway, expressed in their identity and visual design.
