Pídeme Algo
Work/Vertical Series/Pídeme Algo
Loneliness gives a simple request unexpected weight when a night watchman returns to the storage building where he grew up. With no one to turn to, he asks a stranger in a dark corridor to hold his hand.
Behind the story
Why I made it
The wish to be touched can feel as urgent as the embarrassment of asking. Through Rubén, who works nights in a storage building, I wanted to give emotional weight to small gestures of attention and the ability to notice another person's loneliness. An ordinary shift becomes the starting point for a romance grounded in the courage it takes to seek company.
The world
I bring supernatural romance into the familiar solitude of an urban workplace: a storage building with four floors, numbered metal doors and a small security booth. As corridor lights switch off in sections, the distance between doors and the reach of a light switch acquire an intimate weight. The quiet night shift makes that ordinary space emotionally exposed.
The characters
Rubén Alcaide
Night watchman in his childhood building. Rubén works nights in the building where he grew up, with a longing for someone to turn to. Years of distance from his older sister give that need an emotional weight.
Sábado
Man in the storage corridors. Sábado's reserved presence gives the long night shift a point of fascination for Rubén. Appearing about thirty-five, he spends his time in the building's quiet surroundings.
Nieves Alcaide
Rubén’s estranged older sister. Nieves once sustained the household without help, carrying its responsibility as Rubén's older sister. Years of silence now place a painful distance between her and her younger brother.
