Dog Tales
Work/Pet Series/Dog Tales
Familiar fairy tales acquire an animal presence as Alaska and Zeus inhabit their characters. Lost children, enchanted castles and witches draw them into dark fantasy, rendered with the tactile appearance of 35 mm film.
Behind the story
Why I made it
The familiar gains another logic when its protagonists remain dogs. I cast Alaska and Zeus in fairy tales without suppressing their instincts, so Alaska's urge to chase a rabbit still belongs to her. Tailored costumes, worn fabric, folds and visible film grain give the photographed fantasy sets a physical credibility that holds animals and story together.
The world
Dark fantasy acquires physical texture through real dogs dressed for fairy tales, with gardens, woodland and elaborate interiors lit in muted blue green and warm candlelight. In Alice in Wonderland, I establish that world through a checkered marble hall and Victorian clothing. Visible grain and soft contrast evoke 35 mm film, making the imagined setting feel photographed.
The characters
Every character enters the story with a life already underway, expressed in their identity and visual design.
The White Rabbit
Urgency gives the white rabbit his presence before the adventure begins. Wearing a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch, he hurries through the garden and catches Alaska's attention.
The tales
Fourteen classic tales find a canine cast in Alaska and Zeus, each conceived as a vertical mini-series. The collection begins production with Alice in Wonderland.
