Línea de Fuego
Work/Vertical Series/Línea de Fuego
Obedience conflicts with a search for truth when Taylor enters a military academy to investigate his brother's death. His instructor, Greg, survived that mission and signed the report Taylor has come to challenge.
Behind the story
Why I made it
Attraction becomes difficult to separate from authority when obedience is already expected. Through Taylor's arrival at the military academy and his relationship with Greg, his instructor, I wanted to explore men who cannot meet on equal professional terms. Rank governs their words and physical distance, giving the effort to know another person an intimate tension within an unequal structure.
The world
I make military hierarchy physically felt at Fort Ashmore, an Army training post in New Mexico where regulations govern encounters between trainees and instructors. Dust, harsh midday light and a dirt road to the firing range establish subdued ochre exteriors, while a single amber source lights the interiors. The thriller's visual restraint keeps proximity uncomfortable within an environment built on obedience.
The characters
Every character enters the story with a life already underway, expressed in their identity and visual design.
